Blogger

In class we discussed the Google Blogger application. Google Blogger, or as it is known on the web blogger.com, is a useful way of getting information out to a lot of people very quickly. Anyone can sign up and create a blog through Gmail's blogger.com. From there you can post any type of information you want, whether it be a personal blog or a professional blog like we are doing for our EME 2040 class.

As an educator blogs would be an absolutely wonderful way of keeping parents up to date with the classroom activities. I could easily just post an update full of class information and parents could check the blog as often as they like to recall activities and dates that we are doing things.

Mac vs. PC

In class we discussed the pros and cons of the different types of operating systems, Mac's and PC's. We also discussed the differences in the commercials that these companies produce.

The Mac companies produce commercials that show the PC to be both old and outdated and therefore completely useless in today's technological world.

The PC companies produce videos that portray the Mac company as a company that appeals to everyone and therefore is for everyone and is not the stereotypical PC computer that the Mac commercials portray.

In my experience Mac's tend to be better for more creative projects whereas PC's are more geared towards everyday workings.

I would have to say that personally I am a MAC user, which is wonderful for the education system because it enables the use of creativity in the classroom, using videos, and programs such as garageband, moviemaker, animoto and photoshop.

Animoto.com

Animoto is a storytelling board that enables you to make videos by uploading your own pictures, picking your own music and letting Animoto put them both together adding transitions and making a nice video for any occasion. Animoto is extremely easy and very user friendly! It also makes absolutely flawless videos!

Animoto would be amazing to use in the Education field because I could either use it to make videos of what the students are learning in class or on field trips. Or I could use it to make videos in class to show my students information about any of the subjects that they may be studying in school.

Podcasting: Garageband

Garageband is a musical program that allows you to put together a wide array of instruments and make your own music. The list of garageband instruments is very wide and gives you the ability to really make your own soundtracks.

In a classroom this would be absolutely amazing because adding music to presentations entices the learning process. This would also be really cool to add into the curriculum because letting the younger children experiment with such an application would let them become more practiced in music. Letting students experience programs such as Garageband at a younger age enables them to be more involved in music and to expand their creativity.

Garageband is a lot of fun to work with and let's you experiment with different nights and types of music. This is important for both students and adults and creates a lot of fun and interesting effects to add to videos.
